(Chinhphu.vn) - According to the General Statistics Office, the estimated Industrial Production Index (IIP) in October 2024 increased by 4% compared to the previous month and by 7% over the same period last year. For the first 10 months overall, the IIP is estimated to have increased by 8.3% year-on-year.
Cumulatively in the first 10 months, the whole country also saw over 66,200 enterprises resume operations.
Since the beginning of the year, the manufacturing and processing industry, the electricity production and distribution industry, along with the water supply industry, all recorded high growth rates of 9.6%, 10.3%, and 9.5%, respectively.
Concurrently, many key industries also experienced impressive growth compared to the same period last year. Notably, the manufacturing of rubber and plastic products increased by 26.3%, furniture by 24.8%, energy by 16%, chemicals by 14.6%, and automobiles by 14%.
The IIP over the 10-month period also showed clear divergence among localities, with 59 out of 63 provinces and cities recording an increase. Several provinces achieved outstanding growth in the manufacturing and processing industry. Specifically: Lai Chau increased by 43.9%; Phu Tho by 40.7%; Bac Giang by 27.7%; Thanh Hoa by 19.5%; Quang Nam by 19.3%, etc.
In addition, some other localities stood out with strong growth in the electricity production and distribution sector, such as: Khanh Hoa, up 175.2%; Dien Bien, up 57.1%; Cao Bang, up 48.5%; Tra Vinh, up 48.3%; Lai Chau, up 42.7%; Son La, up 39.6%; and Thanh Hoa, up 21.9%.
In October alone, the whole country saw nearly 14,200 newly established enterprises, an increase of 26.5% compared to the previous month. The total registered capital and the accompanying number of workers also achieved impressive growth, reaching 153.5 trillion VND (up 65.4%) and 80,500 workers (up 27.8%), respectively.
Although the number of enterprises decreased slightly compared to the same period last year, the scale and quality of new businesses showed significant improvement. Besides, the return to operation of nearly 8,700 enterprises is also a positive signal for the economy.
Cumulatively in the first 10 months, Vietnam had over 136,100 newly established enterprises. The total registered capital reached nearly 1.32 quadrillion VND, an increase of 4.1%. The scale of enterprises is growing larger, with the average registered capital reaching 9.6 billion VND per enterprise. The whole country also had more than 66,200 enterprises resume operations, contributing to an increase in the number of active businesses in the market.
