Science and technology represent the shortest path to Vietnam's prosperity.

At Vietnam Science and Technology Day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed the importance and role of science and technology in the country's development.

On the afternoon of May 17, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) held a ceremony to celebrate Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18). After 10 years of organization, Vietnam Science and Technology Day has become a festival for the country's science, technology, and innovation workforce.

According to Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat, over the past 10 years, Vietnam Science and Technology Day has awakened, inspired, and ignited creative aspirations within the community. It has gradually formed a culture of innovation and nurtured a love for science among young people, contributing to creating a society that respects science and creative thinking.

"In its state management role, the Ministry of Science and Technology will advise the Government and the Prime Minister on mechanisms and policies to create an even better environment and conditions for scientific research, development, technology application, and innovation," said Minister Huynh Thanh Dat.

At the Vietnam Science and Technology Day event, reporting to the Prime Minister, Dr. Phan Dang Phong, Director of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering and representative of Vietnamese scientists, acknowledged the effective science and technology policies promulgated by the State.

Expressing his aspirations, Dr. Phan Dang Phong hoped that Vietnam would have more enterprises possessing foundational technologies, creating momentum for Vietnam's science and technology to reach regional and global levels.

From the perspective of a young technology enterprise, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tai, CEO of Lumi Vietnam JSC, stated that the community of Vietnamese businesses reaching out to the global market is still very thin. This can be seen during participation in overseas exhibitions.

Given this reality, Mr. Tai hoped that in the near future, Vietnam would have more young enterprises daring to stretch themselves and export products to the world. To achieve this, it is necessary to ignite aspirations for those making Vietnamese products. The Lumi CEO also proposed that the Government should implement policies to support loan capital for young enterprises.

Delivering a directing speech at Vietnam Science and Technology Day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that in the context of the strongly developing 4th Industrial Revolution, the role of science, technology, and innovation is becoming increasingly evident.

Vietnam's science and technology sector has made important contributions in every historical stage and period. During wartime, scientists improved various weapons and researched medicines to combat diseases. In peacetime, scientists continue to make many contributions to the country's industrialization and modernization process.

According to the Prime Minister, over the past time, the contingent of Vietnamese intellectuals and science and technology professionals has been growing increasingly stronger. Many researchers, young scientists, and female scientists have made great contributions to the science and technology sector.

The Vietnamese science and technology market has initially taken shape and achieved positive results. Concurrently, social sciences and humanities have also been promoted with many achievements. Sharing with the scientists, the Prime Minister motivated and encouraged a spirit of risk-taking, bold creativity, and innovation.
